January 1 1965, George’s new Aston Martin DB5 was delivered to his Surrey Estate

The iconic British luxury sports car was known for appearing in James Bond movies like Goldfinger, Thunderball and Cannonball. George’s purchase of the car was arranged through Bydor Cars, a company co-owned by Brian Epstein which supplied sportscars to many figures in the Swinging London era, including the Beatles and members of the Rolling Stones and the Moody Blues.Brian owned the company with Terry Doran, who first met Brian and the Beatles in Liverpool, and sold the band their first car, as well as the van in which they travelled to gigs around the North of England. George had a phenomenal collection of cars and spent a year following the Formula One World Championship around the world. The car sold at auction in 2011 for $480,000. Below are photos of George with the car and Pattie with the car in 2011.
