Imagine which is the most famous John Lennon song was recently selected as “the most loved song ever in the UK”. Imagine was an idealist song about wishing a peaceful and better world. Imagine all the people, living life in peace   The song was a hit in 1971. It was also a hit when John Lennon was killed in New York in 1980. The song was a hit for the 3rd time after 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks.
But who really wrote this song? The answer to this question was John Lennon until recently. But Yoko Ono, Lennon’s wife talked about how she helped him to write the song for the first time on a TV show.
According to Ono, the inspiration for “Imagine” was some of Ono’s poems she read to John Lennon as he wrote a song. The poems always start with the word Imagine: “Imagine a raindrop, “Imagine a goldfish”. “When I was a child, me and my brother were hungry during the World War II. I started to imagine delicious meals for my brother and he started to laugh. If you think something is impossible, you can imagine it and make it possible.”
John Lennon accepted that Yoko Ono should be praised for the “Imagine” song in an interview just before his death. John Lennon: “The majority of the song (lyrics and idea) comes from Yoko and her poem notebooks. Imagine this, imagine that…” Lennon said he was rude not to share the right to be proud of the song with Yoko.
Ono said some part of the song was written when they flew over the Atlantic and the rest was written with the piano in their bedroom in the UK. Ono said, “This song tells all of John’s dreams about the world. This was what John really wanted to say.”. “Imagine” was loved by everyone who organized peace events all around the world.
On March 2002, the name of an airport in Liverpool which was John Lennon’s home town was changed as “John Lennon Airport”. There is a quote from Imagine on a plate at the entrance of the airport. “Above us only sky
