OCTOBER 1, 2015 – An original film of The Beatles performing at The Cavern Club in Liverpool in 1962 was found after 50 years languishing in a desk drawer. It featured the Fab Four playing “Some Other Guy” on August 22, 1962, four weeks before their debut single came out. It was recorded for what was intended to be their first television appearance when, after receiving a number of letters from fans about The Beatles, a crew from Granada Television decided to investigate the growing phenomenon. Producers from Manchester-based Granada first saw the group perform at Cambridge Hall in Southport on July 26th, and Granada’s Dick Fontaine visited the Cavern on August 1st to check the lighting conditions before the film crew attended on this date.
