John Lennon And Paul McCartney Last Photos Together

This last known photo of John Lennon and Paul McCartney together was taken by John Lennon’s girlfirend May Pang at the Louis B. Meyer/Peter Lawford Santa Monica houseLennon was renting March 29, 1974.

The photo was included in Pang’s book of photographs, Instamatic Karma, which was published in 2008.

Other than the real to life individual representations, the book contains some truly essential photos, for example, Lennon marking the official dissolution  of The Beatles association, and additionally the previously stated last known photo of Lennon and McCartney together.

Here’s another incredible photograph of John and Paul brought that day with The Who’s Keith Moon in the middle of them. The photograph was a piece of an accumulation of Moon’s memorabilia sold in 2000.

Pang answered some questions about the meeting…

How did the final Lennon-McCartney photo come about?

“It was during the Harry Nilsson sessions. He had popped in (the studio) the night before. . . . The next day, Paul came over with Linda and kids in tow. Everybody’s just hanging out at the Santa Monica beach house. Everyone’s just talking, just relaxing.”

Were you at that studio jam the night before?

“I was playing tambourine with Mal Evans. . . . All of a sudden I looked up and said, “Paul?” John turned around and said, “Oh, hello, Paul.” It was like they’d seen each other just the night before.  John hadn’t seen him in a couple of years at that point.  Then Paul’s heading to the drums; he just went to Ringo’s drum kit and started to jam.  Stevie Wonder happened to drop by.  Stevie’s on the electric piano, Linda’son the Hammond B3. . . . Everybody was just hanging out and jamming.”

At the point when Lennon chose to produce  Harry Nilsson’s Pussy Cats collection, he thought it would be an incredible thought to have everybody who was dealing with it living under one rooftop. The house was claimed by the performing artist Peter Lawford who purchased it from Louis B. Pang remembers that she and Lennon took the master bedroom, and when he first saw it, he said, referring to JFK and Monroe.

The other five bedrooms were occupied by Keith Moon, Harry, Klaus Voormann (bass player/artist who had designed the cover for The Beatles album Revolver) and the library, complete with an official portrait of President Kennedy on the wall, was converted into a bedroom for Ringo Starr.

The day after they considered an appearance on NBC’s Saturday Night (later Saturday Night Live), John Lennon andPaul McCartney met for the final time.

Although the pair were on good terms, the encounter was not a success. McCartney turned up unannounced at the Dakota building, where Lennon lived, and was turned away.

That was a period when Paul just kept turning up at our door with a guitar. I would let him in, but finally I said to him, ‘Please call before you come over. It’s not 1956, and turning up at the door isn’t the same anymore. You know, just give me a ring.’ He was upset by that, but I didn’t mean it badly. I just meant that I was taking care of a baby all day, and some guy turns up at the door.

McCartney left for Dallas, Texas, where the following day Wings began rehearsals for the US leg of their world tour. Although he stayed in contact with Lennon until the latter’s death in 1980, the pair would never again meet face-to-face.
