Stories of how The Beatles songs are written

The legendary band The Beatles was the most productive band in the 60s. Each the Beatles song was a hit and stayed there for a long time. The Beatles started to share the stories of these lyrics as we struggle to take out of a meaning from these songs. Here are the stories of how The Beatles songs are written!

Yesterday

“Yesterday” song by the Beatles which is considered as the most popular music band of all times is one of the most covered songs in history. The song was written like this: One morning Paul McCartney woke up with the “Yesterday” melody in his mind. He ran towards his piano and wrote it down to remember. Since he didn’t write any lyrics to the melody, he started to hum about fried eggs. He shared the song with his friends after a couple of weeks and the song turns into this version.

A Hard Day’ s Night

If you think about it, the name has no meaning. Because it is completely a mistake! Ringo is famous for using incorrect words. He told this like this: “One day we were at work. We worked the whole day and we were still working at night. I thought it was daytime and I think I said, “a hard day”, then I looked outside and it was night and I said, “a hard day’s night”.

Lucy in the Sky

It is an interesting coincidence that ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ is one of the songs linked with the 60s acid. The acid is there even when we look at the first letters of the song: “L-S-D”. John Lennon never denied avoiding chemicals when they made “Sgt. Pepper” and said, “I really didn’t know LSD came out from the letters” and adds, “my 4-year-old son Julian painted a picture of his classmate Lucy O’Donnell and this was the inspiration for the song.”

Blue Jay Way

“Blue Jay Way” written by George Harrison and included in the 1967 “Magical Mystery Tour” by the Beatles is named after a street on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood Hills. This street has a panoramic view of Los Angeles and Hollywood. But you need to use a curvy road to get into this street. Harrison told this like this: “Derek Taylor (the press agent of the Beatles) was supposed to come to me that night. I told him the house was at Blue Jay Way. He said, “don’t worry I will find it”. He would have asked a cop and found the way. But there was fog that night. I waited and waited and waited. I tried to keep myself awake. I wrote a song about him arriving to Blue Way Jay as to stay awake. There was a Hammond org at the corner which I haven’t noticed before and the song was ready.”

Hey Jude

Paul McCartney wrote “Hey Jude” shortly after John Lennon’s wife broke up with Cynthia Lennon. The song was called “Hey Julian” at first which is dedicated to John’s son Julian Lennon. At that time, Julian’s mother was struggling with a bad marriage. Paul wanted to help her somehow and said, “take a sad song and make it better”. Julian didn’t even notice the song was written for him. Moreover, John Lennon united the song with him.

She Came in Through the Bathroom Window

She Came in Through the Bathroom Window on the B-Side of Abbey Road Medley released in 1969 actually has a deep story. One day a group of fans put up a ladder to Paul McCartney’s home in London, get inside the house and take a valuable picture. That picture was probably Paul’s father.
