It all started with this trip: In January 1964, the photographer Harry Benson was commissioned to accompany the band The Beatles, which was extremely popular in Europe at the time, to Paris. The photographer and the musicians got along well from the start – and the result was pictures that document the extent of the Beatlemania of those years, but also provide discreet glimpses behind the scenes. Here Benson presses the shutter release when Paul, Ringo, John and George (from left) let off steam in a pillow fight in the George V Hotel. Thanks to such recordings, the four stars were able to convey to their fans the image of having stayed the nice guys from next door despite all the successes. It was Paul McCartney who announced the end of the Beatles on April 10, 1970.
On April 10, 1970, Paul McCartney surprisingly announced the end of the Beatles. With that, the career of what is probably the largest pop group came to an abrupt end. The Fab Four have dominated the music world for almost a decade and delighted music fans all over the world.
