60 years of the Beatles legend started in Liverpool, the UK and turned into the Beatlemania in a short time… It is 2022 and as we say, you are never too late to meet with the Beatles.
The band didn’t have the name Beatles when they first got together… The band started as “The Quarrymen”, experienced all the challenges of being a music band but none of these stopped the 1960s to be the age of the Beatles.
The first single “Love Me Do” released by the Beatles in 1962 ranked 17th in the lists. Beatlemania which started when the band had their first world tour started in 1964.
“When I was a child, my mother told me that the secret of life was happiness. When I started to school, they asked me what I want to be when I grow up. I said I want to be happy. They told me I didn’t understand the question. I told them they didn’t understand the life.” Here… This was John Lennon’s perspective for life.
Paul McCartney who met with John Lennon in 1957 was a songwriter, composer, lead guitarist and music and movie producer. He made a lot of songs including “Hey Jude”, “Yesterday”, “Blackbird” which integrated with the Beatles and his name. Today, he is a living member of the Beatles with 60 gold records and “Sir” title.
The fourth member George Harrison was included in the band when his old friend Paul McCartney introduced him to John Lennon. He is the Beatles member who argues individuality, conflict with other members for his different song style and follows experimentalism in music.
One of the reasons why Pete Best got bad with other members was not accepting the hair cut known as the “Beatles model”. When Ringo Starr interviewed with the band in 1962 and when he said I hate it to “what do you think about drum solos” made him replace Pete.
Anyone in their mid-ages would say, “Yes I have heard those” if that person listens to “Twist and Shout”, “Here Comes the Sun” or “She Loves You”. Anyone who listens to different albums of the band will hear the pop, alternative rock, psychedelic rock and even indie sounds.
The Beatles legend that influences the following decades was only created in 10 years. When the band was about to break up, they had different conflicts. The Rooftop concert which they did on 30 January 1969 without any permission and ended by the police was their last concert.
The Beatles was there not only in music but also in cinema in this 10-years period. Their first movie was A Hard Day’ s Night in 1964 and their second movie was Help in 1965 which was not the end. Their last album Let It Be named documentary movies and they won an Academy Award and Golden Globe with the music of this documentary.
John Lennon and George Harrison died because of some unfortunate events… But the Beatles continues to exist with their songs, movies, books and even video games by influencing the following music genres. As Lennon said, life is what happens to you when you are making plans.
