There are few bands in the history of music as iconic as the Beatles. Separated in 1970, the members of the group continued as soloists, giving the public great hits.
John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr showed, immediately after the breakup of the Beatles, that they were capable of signing extraordinarily successful songs on their own. The solo careers of the former Fab Four brought great success to each of them. In this chart, we present some of the best Beatles songs released after their breakup.
Ringo Starr – Photograph
Despite being the most underrated member of the Beatles, Ringo Starr has managed to prove his immeasurable style several times. Photograph is the prime example. Co-written with George Harrison, the track is as engaging as few and immediately became a hit.
George Harrison – My Sweet Lord
At the end of his journey with the Beatles, George Harrison directed the band towards new horizons, discovering the charm of Hinduism. The spiritual awakening of the group members significantly inspired their work and, the silent Beatle in particular, began to sign extraordinarily popular songs, continuing after the band disbanded with tracks like My Sweet Lord.
Paul McCartney – Maybe I’m Amazed
Apparently written by Paul McCartney immediately after the Beatles disbanded, Maybe I’m Amazed is dedicated to his ex-wife. It is, perhaps, the only song that a member of the Beatles has released as a soloist and that mostly incorporates the sounds of the Fab Four. Intense and touching, Maybe I’m Amazed would go perfectly with the band’s tracklist.
George Harrison – All Things Must Pass
One of the main factors influencing the Fab Four’s decision to split was George Harrison’s growing dissatisfaction with the band, due to his marginal role in composing. Always considered the silent Beatle, George Harrison had a very strong attitude as a songwriter and he demonstrated it in the last years of the band and, subsequently, in his solo career with hypnotic hits like All Things Must Pass.
John Lennon – Imagine
Unfortunately, John Lennon had the shortest solo career given his tragic ending. In any case, in the course of only a decade, he managed to give the world real milestones of modern music and, from time to time, gems capable of surpassing the splendor of the Beatles songs themselves. Imagine is one of them. A touching hymn to peace, able to send a very powerful message and which, after the artist’s death, took on an even deeper meaning.
