The Beatles were seen for the third time on US TV when a clip from the BBC’s “The Mersey Sound” showing the group playing “She Loves You” was aired on “The Jack Paar Show.” Many sources mistake this as the band’s first US TV appearance (including Parr), but the first was on November 18, 1963 on the NBC news program “The Huntley-Brinkley Report” in a pre-recorded concert film, followed by a piece on the “CBS Morning News with Mike Wallace” on November 22nd. Slated to run again that night on the “CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite,” it was preempted by the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Weeks later, on December 10th, Cronkite re-aired Kendrick’s report.
